What if our roadways became energized?

Posted 10 years agoBy Powerlane

It’s a question we are resolved to answer at Powerlane. We’re a family-owned company formed with the hopes of transforming the world we live in.

Critical to that future is energy and how we move around the planet. In 2010, the number of cars on the world’s roads surpassed one billion, including an estimated 254 million in the U.S. In 2011, the United States alone consumed about 134 billion gallons of gasoline, or a daily average of about 367.08 million gallons, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. To put that into some perspective, that equates to a gallon of gasoline every day for each man, woman, and child.

At Powerlane, our goal is singular: We want to revolutionize our roadways. To start, we’ve patented a technology that would allow drivers to charge their electric vehicles while driving.

Imagine driving across the country without ever using a drop of oil, or having to pull off the road to refuel; a world where the cost of transportation could be cut by up to two-thirds compared to what you pay today to fill up your tank, take the bus, or ship goods to your home.

These are all possibilities that we see right around the corner, that our technology could bring to fruition.

Can we really energize a roadway? We think we can. And like this video urges, we’re striving to “destroy unsolved problems.”

We’re Powerlane, and we’re excited to be here.
